ALMOND PLANTATIONS

It is a fruit tree from warm areas, so it is not very cold tolerant, requires few cold hours (200-400) and is very drought tolerant.

It requires a long period for the fruit to ripen, so flowering takes place in January and it is not harvested until nine months later.

It can be produced dry land at 300 mm, but profitability is assured from 600 mm. For adequate pollination to take place, the climatic factors that affect the bees must be taken into account (cold, frost, rain, etc.).

Prefers loose, sandy soils, although they vegetate in loams. Waterlogged and heavy soils are harmful to it, since it does not resist root suffocation and is very susceptible to attacks by Armillaria and Phytophthora.

PLANTATION FRAME

Various planting frames are used, with traditional frames ranging between 7.5 x 5.5 and 6 x 3.5, with cup formation. In less vigorous varieties, 6×6 or 6×5 planting frames can be used.

CASTROAGRICOLA works with the best Spanish nurseries, with certified plants, and has extensive experience in the management and execution of almond tree plantations.
